ROOKIE LEAGUE

(2nd Grade) 

The Rookie league focuses on the development of fundamental skills for fielding and hitting with the introduction of Kid Pitching. Coaches and Players pitch using a “flex” baseball. No scores are kept. The goal is to have fun and develop skills. Practices start mid Auguest. Games start near the end of the month and go through approximately the end of October. 

House League Info

Batavia Youth Baseball's recreational house league runs in the spring and fall and is open to any child from Kindergarten through Junior year of high school.

To play on a BYB team, players must reside within BYB's service boundaries

FALL

Fall ball runs from mid-August through the end of October for all leagues.

  •  ROOKIE – Assigned to teams by league president (geographically by town quadrants and schools as best possible) 

JERSEYS

A Jersey/shirt, pants, socks and a hat are provided across all age levels.

Fields are located all across Batavia. See the field locations page under the resources section of our website for more details on specific fields.


Rookie games/practices are typically at:

  • Norm Miller / Big Woods Park (all games, some practices)
  • Braeburn (practices)

What days/times are practices?

How many practices/games will there be?

Practice days and time very during the season but usually practice is held 2-4 times throughout the week for an hour to an hour and a half. Practice usually starts at 5 pm or after. Once the season starts practice and games will be mixed and we try to keep the total number of baseball events to 4.
